Unfortunately, no. Concrete is a natural product and some degree of movement can occur over time due to changing ground conditions and environmental factors. However, the risk of cracking can be significantly reduced through proper planning and installation. Strategic placement of expansion joints and control cuts allows the concrete to move as intended, helping to minimise random cracking. Equally important is thorough site preparation and the use of quality materials. Colour mixed directly into the concrete provides a consistent, uniform appearance throughout the entire slab and is generally considered the premium option. While it comes at a higher cost, it offers greater colour consistency and can help maintain the look of the concrete over time.

Surface-applied colour, which is broadcast onto the concrete during the finishing process, is a more cost-effective alternative. This method can still produce an attractive finish, however variations in colour intensity may occur, resulting in a more mottled or textured appearance compared to the uniform look achieved with colour through the mix.

Exposed aggregate is a durable and decorative concrete finish that offers an attractive alternative to traditional plain concrete. Popular for driveways, pathways, pool surrounds, patios, and outdoor entertaining areas, it combines strength with visual appeal.

The finish is achieved by carefully removing the top layer of cement paste to expose the natural stones and aggregates within the concrete. With a wide range of colours and stone blends available, exposed aggregate can be tailored to complement any home or landscape design.

Once completed, a quality sealer is applied to protect the surface and enhance the natural colours of the aggregate. The level of stone exposure can also be adjusted to achieve your preferred finish. A lighter exposure creates a smoother, more comfortable surface underfoot, while a heavier exposure offers increased texture and slip resistance, making it ideal for high-traffic or wet areas.
